Do I really need it?

There are so many options, available and marketed towards parents as “must haves” that it becomes so easy to fall into the trap of purchasing all this stuff that only gets used a couple of times and really wasn't needed at all, as kids grow so fast.

Clothing and sheets often carry toxins from new.  The smell of new clothing will either be the chemicals the textile has been treated with or a perfumed masking agent. If your clothing tag says wrinkle-free, stain-free, static-free, or the fabric has a strong chemical smell, it has most likely been saturated with formaldehyde.

Mould may be growing in our homes without us even knowing that it is there.  Especially in the more humid northern regions of New Zealand. It loves those dark, humid places that are out of sight and rarely see the light of day. But once it takes hold, it can be challenging to get rid of.

Fabric softeners and dryer sheets can contain a hefty combination of chemicals that can harm our health.

Here are some things to watch out for

QUATs ( Quaternary ammonium compounds)

Some of the main offenders are what are termed QUATs ( Quaternary ammonium compounds).

They make our clothes feel soft and wearable without wrinkles and crinkles.

BUT

They are also known to:

• Trigger asthma and 
• May cause harm to our reproductive system.

Fridge

• Wipe down with All Purpose spray.

• Exterior of fridge: for stainless steel, use Glass spray with a microfiber cloth. For other finishes, you can use Glass or All Purpose spray depending on how soiled the area.

• Fridge interior: Wipe clean with All Purpose spray. For stuck-on food, allow dwell time of 3-4 minutes and add some Oxy Soak for a gentle abrasive.
