Alright, so let's talk about toilet paper, something we use without a second thought. It's like a sidekick to our daily routine, and life without it feels almost unimaginable. But guess what? The regular stuff we use is loaded with nasty chemicals that can mess with our health.
Google says we're burning through about 85 rolls of toilet paper each, per year. Crazy, right? And the problem is, most brands of toilet paper contain toxic chemicals, I'm talking chlorine dioxide, dioxin, BPA, phthalates, colours, fragrances and inks. These harmful chemicals are whats coming into contact with our most sensitive areas, numerous times a day.
The process of making toilet paper is not only chemical-heavy but also not great for the environment.
So, why should you care? Because those chemicals in your toilet paper can lead to acute issues like UTIs, skin irritation, contact dermatitis, PMS, irregular periods, endometriosis and even more serious stuff like PCOS, infertility and certain cancers.
But, there is light at the end of the toilet paper roll!
You can choose better options that won't mess with your body. Look for toilet paper without;
Brands like EcoRolltoilet tissue fit the bill. And, if you're feeling adventurous, bidets offer a healthy and eco-friendly alternative (they might not be as popular here in NZ as they are in other parts of the world, but hey, it's worth a shot!).
So, let's take charge of our health, starting with what we bring into our homes. Swap out that chemical-laden toilet paper for something better, your bum will thank you!
